Customer Persona

A semi-fictional profile of an ideal customer used to guide marketing and product decisions.

A customer persona (or ideal customer profile) is a semi-fictional profile of a target customer — built from interview data, CRM analysis, and demographic research. Personas guide messaging, channel selection, and content strategy. Good personas are based on actual customer data; bad personas are aspirational marketing-team fiction that doesn't reflect who actually buys.
